Mark your calendars for March 14th when the Concord Band will be
performing a special concert in Acton.
In addition to celebrating the fifty-year history of the Concord Band,
this concert will feature several other special events:
- The world premiere of a work for band that the Concord Band has
commissioned from Roger Cichy for the occasion.
The band has recently performed other pieces by Cichy, including
Colours and Fanfare for a Festive Day.
- The retirement of Music Director Dr. William G. McManus, who
will be conducting for the final time after fourteen seasons with the
band.
He has selected Alfred Reed's Armenian Dances, which was also on
his very first program with the band.
- The debut of the band's new Music Director, James O'Dell.
The band is eagerly looking forward to working with Mr. O'Dell, a
distinguished and versatile conductor, educator, and musician.
- The return of Music Director Emeritus William Toland.
Mr. Toland directed the band for more than 30 years and began the band's
long tradition of commissioning new music.
