The Concord Band, Music Director
James O’Dell has been professionally active in instrumental music and
music education for the past thirty-one years.
Mr. O’Dell holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Southern
Oregon University and a Master of Music in Tuba, Euphonium, and Bass Trombone
Performance from the University of Oregon.
His graduate work also included residency at Arizona State University in the
DMA program.
Mr. O’Dell has been Associate Dean of the Conservatory at The Boston
Conservatory since 2002, serving as Interim Dean 2008-2009, and Director of
the Conservatory’s Music Division from 1995-2002.
He is Associate and Principal Guest Conductor of the Metropolitan Wind
Symphony and was Music Director and conductor of the Middlesex Concert Band
and the Southeastern MA Community Concert Band prior to his appointment with
the Concord Band.
