Dear Applicant,
Thank you very much for your interest in the part-time position of
Music Director for the Concord Band. There is additional information,
including the Mission, Policies and Unique Character of the Concord Band
and details regarding the Music Director tasks, on the Concord Band
website at www.concordband.org/directorsearch. In addition, an
application form will be available on the website by early December,
2007.
We request that all applications be submitted no later than February
1, 2008. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview in March
or April, 2008. Finalists will be invited to meet and rehearse with the
band in May of 2008. The new Music Director will be announced by the
end of June and is expected to start work no later than January
2009. This will allow a minimum of two months of overlap with
Dr. William McManus, the current Music Director, before he steps down
following our March 2009 50th anniversary concert. If mutually
agreeable, the new Director may become involved with the band at an
earlier date.
Note that the application deadline, interviews and guest conducting
are earlier than indicated in a previous communication. This is the
result of a schedule change that has opened up an opportune window for
auditions in the spring of 2008.
